Another past life experience for Erin McDermott was optical engineering exterior automotive illumination for U.S. and international markets. she worked on projector headlamps, turn signals, rear combination lamps (RCLs), sidemarkers, etc. using a variety of light sources including LEDs, HID, halogen, and even good old tungsten bulbs.

This experience involved industry-specific engineering tricks to produce precise amounts of light at distant test points to meet super stringent regulatory requirements. It comes in handy in developing creative solutions for a lot of other industries today!
